In short
- Wood Lathe World is free to read.
- We sell nothing, and there are no accounts, memberships or newsletter.
- Our income comes from affiliate commissions.
- The site shows no display ads at the moment.
How commissions work
Some product links in our guides and listings go to Amazon. If you click one and complete a qualifying purchase, Amazon pays us a commission. Your price stays the same.
That commission income is the only thing that pays for running the site right now.
Why we chose this model
We wanted woodturners to read guides without paying, and we did not want to stock or ship equipment. Affiliate links let us do both.
The cost of this arrangement is a built-in incentive: the site earns when people buy. We would rather say that openly than ignore it.
How we keep commissions from steering advice
- Articles are built from manufacturer specifications, public product information and buyer feedback.
- The Wood Lathe World Editorial Team reviews each one before it goes live.
- Commission rates play no role in choosing or describing a product.
Our Editorial Policy explains the process. The Affiliate Disclosure holds the formal wording, including the Amazon statement.
In practice, a guide may name a product that earns us nothing, and it may point you away from one that would. The test is simple: could a reader tell from the text that no one paid for it?
We think the answer should be yes, and the review step exists to keep it that way.
What we don’t take
Wood Lathe World does not accept payment for positive coverage. A maker cannot pay for a good write-up or a higher place in a comparison.
We have no sponsorships or partnerships to report. If that changes, this page will say so.
